Caravaggio, The Incredulity of Saint Thomas
What if you could attend any or all of the conferences that we’ve been posting recaps about here on the Academic Blog? And what if you could do that without having to pay for hotels, airfare, taxi, and food? The Mobile Ed Christology Conference is your chance to attend a stimulating conference this summer at a fraction of the cost of a typical conference. It happens online August 20–25 2018, and tomorrow is your last chance to take advantage of early bird pricing.
As I mentioned in an earlier post, summer is the time to study more, not less. Although classes are over and time abounds, the best thing you can do with that time is keep the intellectual and spiritual machinery fine-tuned and well-oiled. The best way to do that is simply this: jump head first into a course on Christology taught by a crop of world-class scholars.
Tomorrow is the final day of early-bird registration. The conference is called “Know His Name,” and is a joint effort by Logos Mobile Education and Western Seminary that brings together a bunch of VIP scholars for a week of in-depth study of the names of Christ.
But what makes the Mobile Ed course so intriguing, so much so that you should invest a week of your precious summer time into it? Here are a few bullet points to remove any excuses:
- Topic – the course has a singular focus: the transformative power of Jesus made known through his many names. That’s a topic that should lead to both a deeper understanding of the Lord Jesus and profound worship of him.
- Format – 15 minutes of lectures a day for a week, with suggestions for self-study. You could realistically spend hours a day for a week investing in yourself (and thus better able to teach others), being taught through the lectures, built up in the scriptures, and guided into periods of reflection each day with Gerry Breshears.
- Access – 14 additional Mobile Ed courses are available to access for the entire week, which enables you to go even deeper in your study of the Word with the help of exceptional biblical scholars.
I’ve posted the schedule below. Obviously, this is not one to miss:
The Mobile Ed Christology Conference is happening August 20–25 2018, but you need to register soon for the best pricing. My suggestion is that you call up a bunch of your theologian friends and do the conference together. Set up your own study and prayer group. Make it the best week of your summer by sharing the experience with others, and choosing to go through the same additional Mobile Ed courses together. Then take what you’ve learned and bless your family, your church, and your classmates when you return to your regular studies in the Fall.
Don’t forget to register by July 13 to take advantage of early bird pricing!
