John Pierceson talk with Dr. Steven Reid and Dr. Michael Allen in our weekly Mobile Education Podcast. Topics discussed are biblical theology and the expectations of the pastor in today’s congregation.
Dr. Steven Reid joined the faculty of George W. Truett Theological Seminary of Baylor University in the fall of 2008. Previously he was academic dean and professor of Old Testament Studies at Bethany Theological Seminary in Richmond Indiana. He first came to Texas as a member of the Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary faculty in 1990, where he served for twelve years. Previously he taught for almost ten years at Pacific School of Religion. He began his teaching career at the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta Georgia
Dr. Michael Allen teaches students to delight in the careful study of God’s mighty deeds (Psalm 111:2), integrating the study of Bible and theology to prepare students for faithful ministry of worship and witness in local churches. He wants to train students to seek renewal by way of retrieval, drawing on the resources of the Christian past for the sake of contemporary theological reflection. Two principal concerns shape his classes and his writing: theological commentary on the Bible and the recovery of dogmatic theology in the catholic and reformed confessional tradition.
