The intent of this short post is simply to point you faithful (and new) readers of the Academic Blog to a very helpful resource, if you are considering upgrading to Logos 8.
The team has created a New in Logos 8 page that covers 18 distinctly different components to Logos 8 compared to everything that came before (click the screenshot below).
I hope this helps you make a more informed and objective purchasing decision.

I am truly excited about workflows. As a Sunday School Adult teacher for 35 years I’ve never seen anything like it! I am so excited I have 3 workflows going now and I just got the upgrade 3 days ago. THANK YOU!!!
You’re very welcome, John! Hope this boosts your productivity many times over as you serve the church.
I would like to know how (or why you can’t) change the content of the Home Page. The Hope Page is mostly an advertising page of more things to buy to me. For instance, why do I need to be reminded 10 times to look at how to start a Workflow? Isn’t one or twice sufficient (except for the hard sell)? Why was the notification of changes that were downloaded left off? That was informative to me. Thank you.
Same question as Greg above. It used to be that we can choose categories that appear in Homepage of previous ecition. I missed the “From your Library” which I love in Logos 7. So what appear in “Explore” are mostly ad for resources / features.
I echo the two previous comments. When I could customize what appeared on my “Home” page, it was a useful part of Logos. Now it’s a visually overwhelming hodgepodge, most of which I’m not interested in checking out. So I rarely refer to it. Can we expect the customizing ability to return after Logos 8 has been sufficiently introduced?
I especially liked seeing what resources were being updated. It helped me to endure the long “bogging down” of my computer as the necessary indexing was accomplished. I could also click on the list of resources, go to each one, and turn off the display of page numbers and other visual aids that I find an unhelpful interruption of my reading of the resources. On this note, could Logos ship resources with this feature turned off and allow users who want the various resource connections to turn them on?
I agree with all the previous statements, Most of all I miss “from your library” and I really don’t enjoy looking at this front page anymore due to all the advertisements. I used to look forward to opening up Logos every day and expecting something new and exciting. Ever since I upgraded I feel as though I have to push myself to open logos. I even considered returning back to logos 7. The workflows are so time consuming that I have a hard time completing one within a reasonable time frame, especially when preparing a message. The one thing I am really interested in is the canvas option since I primarily teach, only I have no idea on how to use it. Haha
oh well, I am looking forward to the updates. One thing I know for sure, logos always comes through.
Thanks for all you do!
After reading other comments about the home page, I must add my thoughts on it. I miss being able to enter my account from the home page. There may be a way to do that with Logos 8, but I haven’t found it yet. I don’t mind the many reminders of what is available in Logos 8. I find it takes me several times to “get it” and appreciate the repetition of the new features. I am excited about using all the possibilities in the new Logos 8. Logos just keeps getting better.
Regards,
I see I’m not the only one with concerns about the Home Page and I share many of the concerns that have already been expressed. I finally stopped using the Home Page in Logos 7 and was hoping I could get it back with Logos 8.
Some time ago, I realized that the Logos 7 Home Page was getting longer. I only have a certain amount time before leaving for work and it was time-consuming to pick my way thru all the content to find the things I was interested in. Also, there were those irritating duplications (one day I counted 6 ads for March Madness). Happily Logos 7 allowed me to deselect some of the content I had no interest in.
The first round of cuts was easy to make but as the Home Page continued to grow, I’d have to deselect more options – blogs that I enjoyed, new resources I might wish to buy. Finally the Home Page bore very little resemblance to anything I enjoyed and that made it easy to walk away.
But I had once enjoyed the Home Page very much and am hoping Logos 8 will give me one I can use again – one where I, and NOT the software, selects the content I’m interested in. Perhaps a future update will allow each of us to select the content that we find to be useful and interesting and to deselect the content that just gets in the way. And it would be nice if Logos 8 would reconsider the continuation of duplication.
But, if not, I can enjoy Logos 8 for other new features and continue to ignore the Home Page.
